Dossantz

After a long week and as a form of reward for cleaning my room and labeling my baking supplies, I decided to treat myself to a box of Dossantz from Madeleine. Fact: I called in last Tuesday night to reserve me a box of 4 to be claimed on Saturday at 5PM.

I was excited to go head out yesterday to check the place out and to finally sink my teeth into this flaky, greasy goodness. I know the croissant + donut hybrid has been a food fad for like the past month already but it's never too late to try them out. 

There was this nostalgic feeling when we walked our way over to Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino. Just a quick segue, I used to head out to Citigym when I was adamant in loosing weight a few months back and now I am back to fill my body with sugary goodness. NO REGRETS.

French-inspired, Madeliene is a bread and pastry shop. Serving from decadent cheesecakes, quiches to piping hot breads. You can never go wrong with their wide array of sugary, chocolatey and even savory creations. This small piece of heaven is found in the Gourmet Walk, left side of the hotel. The lovely waitstaff beams at you with the most genuine smile and accommodates to your needs.

Dossantz is the same as cronuts and croughnut. There are tons of variations to avoid being plagiarsed and be sued for copyright. Dossants is the Cebu version of a cronut. The "cronut" has been trademarked by Dominique Ansel of NYC who started the whole thing.

The Taste?


I loved this one. I practically love anything vanilla. This was no exception! Crumbly, flaky crust with a thin white icing sugar on top.

Strawberries as I said on my post about ICAAC's epic dinner is an underwhelming fruit. This however bursts with flavor and moistness. Certainly, a good choice for strawberry lovers and for curious foodies alike.

Aside from vanilla, I am also a fan of cinnamon. Sweet and savoury in every bite. I liked this one as it's not that much greasy compared to the Vanilla. Not complaining, just a random observation.

And finally, saving the best for last. First, look at the photo above. It's so awesome that it can't contain it's awesomeness. This is a favorite among all the flavors we tasted. The crumbly texture with the subtle mango filling makes this truly delectable. Even tastes great after being refrigerated.

Random Fact: Mango is also the National Fruit of Pakistan and India? And the National Tree of Bangladesh. Epic!

Best eaten fresh. Can be consumed the day after if it lasts that long! We reheated a few today and still tasted great.

Service was impeccable. Great staff and lovely ambiance. Perfect for a slow Saturday. Take one last look from the photos above and you'd find yourself dialing Madeliene to get  your box home. :)
